Ms. Caroline has arrived!

Dear parents,
By now I think I have met nearly all of you. After a long wait I am delighted to finally be in the classroom with your lovely children! They have been cared for so beautifully by Ms. Renata and Ms. Ana and I am enjoying taking over from where they left off.
We have had a wonderful week getting to know one another and have enjoyed swimming, painting, a leaf walk, counting, singing, messy play, music, crafts, stories and lots of other fun activities. We have continued with the unit of inquiry 'How The World Works' focusing on the seasons and the day/night cycle.
Next week will involve a lot of practise in preparation for the end of year show but we will also squeeze some other fun activities too.
I hope you enjoy this weeks pictures :-)

Pre-K First Swimming Class

Starting on April 25, Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 had swimming class with Coach Ienuso every Monday morning after the assembly. Pre-K4 would have another swimming class every Friday afternoon at 1:30 - 2:30 P.M.

After changing the swim suit, we walked to the swim by the forest near our school.

We were ready to swim!!

Coach I was giving us the instruction for our happy and safe swimming.

First we used the little pool and did some aquatic activities.
We sat in the side of the pool and we committed to listened to Coach I.

We tried to walk in the water.

Then we tried to run in the water. We could do it as we were balance.

We were great risk taker when we tried to speak underwater with our friends.

When we sat on the side of the pool, we splashed the water with our legs.
We showed our respect by not splashing the water to our friends.

It's time to go back to school! We need to take a quick shower!

Kartini Day 2016

Every year, MZS celebrates Kartini Day.

Kartini is one of the Indonesian Heroines. When she was kid, only boys could go to school. Girls would always stayed at home. By seeing this inequality, Kartini struggled to be the agent of change. She tried to go to school and study with the boys. Finally she could make the equality for girls. Therefore, every April 21, Indonesia celebrates Kartini Day as she was born at that day.

This year, MZS organized an assembly that launched Middle school radio show program, music performance from Pre-K to grade 5 and role play from grade 4 adn 5.

Pre-k music performance opened the assembly. They were playing the drum, wooden and metal instrument while singing the song.

Below is the video of Pre-K music performance

Pre-k was so confidence in playing the musical instrument. They also showed their balance when they played the instrument and sang the song.

After Pre-k performance, grade 4 and 5 presented their role play about Kartini day.

Tiara (MZS) and Shafa (YPJ) did the Question and Answer section after they showed their radio program to the parents, teachers and their friends.

They could be great communicator while playing music together.

YPJ Music Integration

Starting on April 19 to May 31, MZS Pre-K would have Music Integration class with TK - A YPJ every Tuesday morning. Pre-k will come with Ms. Anita, Ibu Maria, and Ms. Ana. Then there would be Ms. Theresia, Mr. Inco and Ms. Eda from TK YPJ.

The music integration would be held at two campuses; TK YPJ Campus and MZS Campus. This integration aims to share the knowledge and the experience between two campuses.

In this quarter, the music integration would focus on the connection between feeling and music. There would be two different groups from TK - A YPJ.

In the beginning of the integration class, Ms. Anita would play happy, sad, angry, fast and slow music. The kids would move and act by following the music.

MZS Pre-K and TK -A YPJ followed the music integration enthusiastically.

The kids were enjoying the music by dancing together.

The kids were walking slowly when they listed to sad and slow music

They are sharing the happiness when listening to happy music.

They acted sad while listening to sad music cooperatively.

Ms. Anita introduced some instruments that made happy, sad and angry music to the kids.

Day and Night Activity

We learned about day and night by choosing what could we see in at daytime and nighttime. We had the pictures of moon, star, rainbow, a piece of blue paper and a piece of black paper.

So, first we cut the moon, star and rainbow

Next we put them either in blue or black paper, then we stick them.

After that, we could decorate our day and night with pom pom, paper towel, googly eyes, glitter and many other sources.
